Compost is so organic
Compost isn't too romantic
But, rewards, can be gigantic
It's the en-viron-mentally friendly thing to do.
First you add some peelings
And then you add some scraps
The rinds won't hurt your feelings
Making compost is a snap
There's coffee grinds and cow manure
And chicken droppings, too
But not any doggy do.
Gory, Gory, let bacteria work for you
Gory, Gory, and the fungi are there, too
Gory, Gory, keep it hot and let it rot
Compost can be your lot.
If you pile it higher and deeper
Then, you may be king of the heap
Just add some air and water
And then gently let it steep
Don't forget to turn it over
Once or twice before you sleep
Go to bed and let it rot.
