HERES THE SCOOP

I reside in a small town in south central PA (USA), that is in close proximity to the Susquehanna River. This area is often referred to as the... 'Garden Spot'..., home to some of the best farmland in the World.

Today in 2000 we have a  ' growing '  problem, ...in that we are growing way too many houses and paving over so much of this great farmland...a valuable national resource.

Our climate here in zone 6 is compatabile with many trees, shrubs and flowers, plus we recieve ample rainfall for most things to thrive. This is not Eden though, as we are plagued by many insects, pests and diseases.

In this area of the country we enjoy all 4 seasons, spring, summer, fall, and winter. Although spring is my favorite time of the year, I look forward to the changing of all the seasons.

My home is surrounded by beautiful mature gardens of bulbs, flowers, shrubs, and trees ... which I have been working on for the last 20 years. Every year as the gardens age and mature they seem to put on a different and more beautiful display.

About 10 years ago I purchased some acreage up in the mountains of Pennsylvania and have turned that into a beautiful garden also. As plants and flowers bloom in my gardens, I will photograph them and then post some of them on the   Photos Page  (A Flowers View).

At first I would get frustrated with the deer, because they love to eat the flowers and shrubs I have planted around my cabin. Now I just tell everyone that the deer probably think that it is a salad bar made just for them....I could just hear em..."Well, which ones should we eat first ???"

I studied Horticulture in school and have taken many evening classes as well. I learned a lot in school, but most of my knowledge was learned by 'TRIAL AND ERROR'... out in the backyard.

For several years I operated a small lawn care and landscaping business, where my motto was, "I could do anything the customer wanted, from pullin' weeds to designing and planting a whole new landscape for them."
