Hello Fellow Gardeneers,
Glad I came across this website. I have been in the horticulture/landscape industry for many years...nice to be able to talk plants with "family".

Howdy Kevin-could be a Muscari species in your yard. Some look like hyacinths or could Scilla hispana. Now classified as Hyacinthoides. What are of country are you in? Dave

My clivia hardly sends out any flowers and seems to get a powdery deposit on the leaves ( I assume its powdery mildew). Is there any simple solution to these problems. It gets a fair amount of water - perhaps too much

I can't get my clivia to bloom. It gets moderate light in the summer, little water, is an old root-bound plant, seems healthy otherwise, gets winter cooling and bloom-type fertilizer starting in February. What am I doing wrong?

I am very excited to have found this website! I hope someone here can help me with an I.D.. A plant has come up in the middle of my yard and I don't know what it is. I've been told a hyacinth, but it doesn't look like any I have ever seen. Is there an appropriate place for me to post a picture so someone can help?

Many Thanks.
Kevin

Having read your very good article on the Gloriosa Rothschildiana
You said to split tubers just before planting, are there any special procedures?
Regards

Jim

JFPurcelljr - Most bulbs, Freesias included, have an active period of bloom and growth, and then a dormant time where everything dies down. It's perfectly normal.
